Hi crafters, Paula here today and I used a mixed media technique to create the background & butterfly on my Blues By You layout. Quick, easy background for any layouts, cards or mini albums
Instructions
- Place some of the Distress Ink Chipped Sapphire onto a plastic bag, spritz with water then place the bag onto the white 12×12 cardstock so there are random ink marks. Allow to dry or use a heat gun. This is your base paper
- Trim the Blues by You Paper 02 to measure 4 x 11 ½”. Trim this piece from the middle of your paper so you get just the blue area.
- Trim the Blues by You paper 02 to measure 3 x 10”. Trim so you get a strip with flowers. Then adhere to the back right of the piece you cut out in step 2, coming in from the right side of this paper about 2”
- Trim a piece of the remaining 02 paper to measure 2 x 11”. Trim so you get a plain blue area. Adhere to the right of the floral paper. Adhere to the layout, coming in from the right of your base paper (the one with the smooshed ink on) about ¼” from the horizontal blue paper
- Trim a piece of white cardstock to measure 4 ¼ x 4 ¼”, adhere a 4 x 4” photo to this photo matt.
- Trim four pieces of the Blues by You 06 paper, two to measure ¾ x 2” & two to measure ¾ x 1 ½”. Cut a fishtail in one end of all four pieces & adhere to the bottom back of the photo matt so they are overlapping each other a little
- Adhere two of the corner flourishes from the die cut pack to the top left & bottom right of your 4 x 4” photo. Adhere to your layout
- Die cut four sets of leaves from white cardstock & adhere to the bottom left of your photo matt. See main picture for placement
- Stamp the butterfly image onto a piece of white cardstock with black ink, allow to dry thoroughly. Stamp the butterfly into some Distress Ink – Chipped Sapphire, spritz with water then stamp back onto the black stamped image to give a water colour effect. Cut out the butterfly then adhere to the bottom left of your photo.
- Add some bling to your butterfly body
- Add some doodling to the corners of your layout. See main picture for placement
- Find the FAVOURITE MOMENTS in your die cuts pack & adhere to the top right of your photo
