Hi everyone, Michelle  here and back to share a little creativity with the gorgeous Couture Creations Earthy Delights collection. When I say gorgeous, it really is a fabulous collection to use and this time I have put together a flat canvas board – this one is 7” wide by 10” in height.

Using a plastic spatula and gesso, randomly scrape spatula down the canvas and let gesso dry. Using green ink and palm leaves stencil, randomly add stencilled palm leaves.Cut strips from the palm leaves paper 1”, 1 ½” and 2” [say 3-4 strips] and tear top and bottom edges. To add a little texture, I have adhered strips of a fine mesh – use gesso underneath and then adhere mesh and in other areas, I have added paper, then mesh on top of the paper using gesso. Leave to dry.

Once dry, I have also randomly run my ink pad for a little more colour. One has to be a little patient and wait for the background layering to be properly dry before building the top part of the canvas.   I left my canvas board overnight to make sure it was completely dry.

I have dug deep into my stash and found a piece of wooden fence – I have lightly applied gesso, let it dry and in areas I have added a little ink, just so it wasn’t left a stark white colour.

Now it’s time to give those scissors a work out and it’s time to fussy cut – that’s exactly what I did, I cut out a whole lot of palm leaves from that same 12×12 patterned paper.

I placed my photo and then I pulled apart some muslin [cheesecloth], layered a few pieces of foliage from the ephemera pack, tucked in some crafting fibres, arranged some of the fussy cut pieces of foliage until I was happy, moved them around a little more until I was happy with the way it looked.

Under my fence I added some of those awesome double sided foam dots and added a wee dollop of glue for safe measure and then I adhered everything on the top to build up my embellishment cluster. Just before I adhered everything above my photo, I used a couple of butterfly rub-ons, just to give the background a little colour against the green and it brought out the colour of the beverage in the glass my husband is holding in the photo.

I die cut some hearts, added the o-rings and pearls, a little bling, a couple of small floral pieces, stamped my sentiments and added them to the left hand side and left them to dangle and then added a label from the ephemera pack and a sentiment for my title ‘you are one of a kind’.

Happy crafting my friends.
