Hi everyone, It’s Michelle back to share a very special off the page project, a card that really isn’t a card, but it is a gift given as a card- how that makes sense?? A card gift for someone very special – to celebrate her 65th birthday.

I made a film reel and instead of using photos I used alpha stamps to say ‘for you’.

I have to admit it really was a little trial and error and this is the prototype and I plan on making a few more and changing and tweaking a few things on the next few projects. Look at these papers from the Blooming Friendship collection – they really are beautiful … this is the bottom of the reel.

I cut a strip of patterned paper, scored an edge, top and bottom and using my scissors cut out small triangles so that I could fold it in a curve shape to make a tube and then I glued it between the layers of the reel.

I cut out another piece of long filmstrip using a metal die, cut a strip of white paper and used some alpha stamps to stamp the ‘for you’ and then I adhered both to the tube part of my inner reel.

I’ve cut another film strip and woven it in amongst my floral embellishment cluster [muslin, mesh, crafting fibres, pearls, leaves and flowers] on the top of the reel. Print off ‘happy birthday’ and adhere to toothpick, adhere in amongst the blooms. I’m sure the intended recipient will know that I have made this for her and with love.
