Hi everyone! It’s Cheryl here with you today, with another fun card, and a brand new collection from Couture Creations. I’ve created a shaker card using the You Go Girl Portrait stamp set and two contrasting colours from the Alcohol Ink Stayz in Place Inkpad & Reinker sets.

I know shaker cards look quite complicated, and they can be if you are new to the technique, but believe me when I say I often whip these up in under twenty minutes. You will need some acetate for this technique and the Stayz in Place Jet Black Inkpad, to stamp out the image. If you haven’t done this before, here is the link: https://youtu.be/5cRMbpG4qZ0

The first thing I did was to stamp the image on the acetate. I used the Precision Stamp Press to ensure I got a good image. That way if it’s not perfect first time, you can easily re-ink the image and stamp again. (And again if necessary.)

I put it aside while I made the frame. For the frame, I cut a piece of cardstock the same size as the cardbase. I then cut a frame out of that topper piece using a die I already had on hand. This frame must be large enough for the image to show through. Do not discard the inner frame – you will use this shortly.

I lay both the frame with inner piece in place, flat on my work table, and using my Pumpkin Stayz in Place Inkpad, stamped randomly around the frame with the small patterned stamp that comes with the set. Once I had finished, I did the same thing with the Coral Stayz in Place Inkpad and the same stamp, filling in the gaps around the frame. I used the back of the inner piece – that way it can be used for another card. It evens out the frame, making it easier to stamp.

The next step is to add double sided tape to the back of the frame, and place your stamped acetate over it, making certain it’s correctly placed. Now comes the trickiest part of the entire project – you need to add foam tape all the way around frame on the wrong side (The side that won’t be seen).

Leave the peel off protective backing tape on the foam tape that’s still showing. This is where you add your sequins, glitter and/or whatever you are adding to your shaker. Be careful not to overfill.

Last of all, take the backing paper off the foam tape and add another piece of acetate (of the same or similar size) to trap the sequins etc. This one should be clean and with no stamping on it. Add foam tape to the rest of the topper to ensure an even surface when added to the card base.

Last of all, add to the cardbase. *Tip: I like to add wet glue on top of the foam tape that will be directly on the card base. The reason is to give me some wriggle room if I get it a little crooked – good quality foam tape, like the Couture Creations Foam Tape, can be difficult to reposition otherwise.

I hope you take the time to try this fun technique – it can be very satisfying, and is great for cards that need the WOW factor.
