I’m sharing something a little different today. It’s also a bit more fiddly than usual. I have created a concertina card, which sounds difficult, but it’s really not.
We’ll start with the fiddliest part of the card first: You may not need quite as much of the patterned paper as I am going to tell you to use, but it really does depend on the size die/frame you decide to use. With a 12” x 3” piece of design paper. Score every 1/4” for the entire width of the design paper. To make it a little easier, I cut out a scrap piece of cardstock and put that aside.
Now fashion your patterned paper into a concertina. Add Quick Dry Adhesive to the scrap cardstock, and add your folded design paper on top. Hold it in place until the glue dries enough to secure it. (It doesn’t take long.)Next cut, out a frame, using whatever shaped dies you prefer. I used two circle dies and gold mirror card. Once you’ve done that, add Quick Dry Adhesive to the frame and place it on the concertina paper. Again, hold it in place until it’s dry. When it is completely dry, cut around the outside of the frame until there is no excess showing. Put aside.
Next add your selected pattered paper to your card base for the background. I wanted something that wasn’t going to detract from my feature piece, but would compliment it. Once you’ve added it, choose a piece of ephemera. Layout your ephemera and feature, and place them as desired. I used foam tape on my ephemera to give the card more texture. I again used the Quick Dry Adhesive to add my feature. Lastly, I added a greeting and glued it down.
That was my card finished.
Using different frames and design paper will give you a variety of results. There is not a lot of work in this, although it is quite fussy to make. It does however, have the vow factor, and the recipient won’t know how little time it took to create.
