Hi everyone, it’s Cheryl here.
I’ve done something completely different for you today. I’m going to call this a masculine card, but by changing up the patterned paper you use, it could easily be a feminine card.
Using the brand new Earthly Delights Collection, I pulled out a sheet of 6.5 x 6.5 double-sided paper. I chose one that had a more masculine look to it. I trimmed the strip off the top, then cut three strips that were 3cm wide. Cutting them into squares, distress all exposed edges. This will save a bit of time for later.
Next, cut each strip at the 3cm mark, this will give you twelve 3 x 3 cm pieces. Distress all remaining edges that have not yet been distressed.
Taking a piece of contrasting cardstock and glued it down before adding the patterned paper to the card base. Make it slightly smaller than the base, leaving a nice border around the edge. Next layout the twelve pieces on the secured card topper, to ensure you have your spacing right.
Using double-sided adhesive foam dots, secure each square to the card topper, leaving an even space between each square. Last of all, attach a ephemera or greeting, again, using foam dots to give it more height. That’s it. All finished, and in a very short time.
A couple of tips: you can adhere the squares flat to the card, but I like the more textured look, by using adhesive foam dots in the centre of each square.
You can also use your leftovers for this design, either using the same pattern paper, or a mix of contrasting patterns.
