Hello everyone. It’s Cheryl here with a slightly more complicated card for you today. I have used the gorgeous new Blues by You collection for this card, and decided to combine tags with a shaker.

The shaker part of the card is the most time consuming part, and I know a lot of crafters cringe when they think about shaker cards. They really are easy, once you know how.

I created a quick video to show you this fiddly, but relatively easy technique. You can find it here:

For this project I have only used left over pattened paper. If you’ve seen any of my past projects, you’ll know I don’t like wasting my supplies. It was one of the reasons I decided to make a tag card. I had some smaller pieces that may otherwise go unused. I began by cutting a topper using cardstock, then added a piece of design paper to match. I had two contrasting pieces of design paper that I felt would work beautifully, and cut them down to make two tags. The first one I mounted to the topper using double-side foam tape.

The second tag was to become a shaker as the feature of this card. I cut a circle near the top, then made a frame using the same circle die and one a size larger. I added those using All Purpose Art Glue as I needed a fine line of glue for the frame. I then made the shaker part of the card. (See above video link for the short tutorial.) To secure this second tag, I again used double-sided foam tape – single layer on the left, and double on the to keep it even.

Using the Hello stamp and die set from the Blues By You collection, I cut the base for the Hello die using vellum. Next I cut the word out, again using left over design paper. It was secured again using All Purpose Art Glue. Because glue can show through vellum, I did a fine line of glue behind the letters only. On the left side of the greeting, (that is, the “H”) I added some self adhesive foam strips. This was to keep the entire greeting even. To give it a bit of sparkle, I added the clear Winkles Glitter Marker.  Adding a “thank you” from the same stamp and die set. Lastly I added a few pieces from the pieces used in the shaker. And that was my card done. I hope you enjoyed my creation today, and give it a try. I’ve listed all the products I used below.
